Receiving what you need.....

In my previous blog, I discussed how I secured a teaching position in the United States. I didn't share my job offer letter because I couldn't locate it, but I'll post it once I find it. After receiving the job offer and informing only my immediate family—my mom, dad, brother, and sisters—the next step was obtaining my visa to travel to the United States. This process was lengthy, taking me months to complete. Here's how it unfolded.
Initially, I was instructed to have my transcripts evaluated in a manner that displayed and assessed every class I had taken at the university. This type of evaluation is known as a "Course-by-Course" evaluation. I had to save money and request some financial assistance from my dad to afford it. It took me some time to accomplish this, but God supported me. He reminded me that He has always been and will always be with me; "I will never leave you nor forsake you" is from Hebrews 13:5.
Remembering that verse sustained me. Indeed, the devil would creep into my heart, filling it with doubts and uncertainties, trying to convince me that accepting the job was a significant error. The devil despises it when we achieve our desires and find joy, particularly when it's God who provided it to us, not him, which makes him behave like a petulant child.
I continued to trust in God and managed to evaluate my transcripts. During this time, I was experiencing dreams—dreams of places I had never visited. These dreams occurred even before I received the job offer, leaving me puzzled as to why I was in these locations. It seemed as though I lived there and was familiar with the place, but upon waking, I had no clue where I was or why I was there. This place was also filled with people, either walking past me or looking at me. These dreams were peculiar, but I always prayed about them whenever they occurred.
God communicates with me in various ways—through His word, a pastor's sermon, conversations with a child, or even gospel music. However, He primarily speaks to me through my dreams. This began in my childhood when I had unusual dreams, and my mother advised me to pray about them, asking God sincerely to help me understand and manage them. This practice has been beneficial for me.
I submitted my evaluated transcripts and awaited further instructions from my prospective employers. After sending them, it only took a few days for them to respond, which was quite quick. I then submitted my degree certificate as well. Two weeks later, my H-1B visa was prepared. The final step was to schedule an appointment with the Nigerian embassy to have my passport stamped. That, in itself, is another story.
Food for thought
Ever wonder why God sometimes says "yes,no or wait?"
God possesses a remarkable sense of humor, and it's always beneficial for us. When your desires align with God's plan for you, you will receive what you need rather than what you want.
You might request a chocolate cake, but God may choose to give you vanilla because He knows it's better for you. In essence, God always provides us with what we need, not what we want, because He knows us completely.
More to come in my next post, stay blessed.
