Welcome back to my blog. I've recently shared two posts about my life updates. In this post, I'll continue from where I left off.
Following one of the most difficult periods in my life, I managed to recover and get back on track. In February 2022, my brother-in-law sent me a WhatsApp message with a job advertisement for international teachers. Initially, I felt excited, but upon seeing the country, I thought, nope, it's not for me.
The country in question was the United States of America. I have no personal issues with that country, but I've heard a lot about it, including challenges in getting visas approved and issues with racism. I doubted they would accept a Nigerian to teach their children, and I suspected the advertisement might be a scam.
So, I didn't take any action regarding the post. However, I did mention it to my mom, and she said, "You've received over 100 rejection letters from job interviews you've attended, so why not give this one a shot since it's already available to you."
Well, I attempted it, but that was a month afterward. I chose to apply for the job. They only required my resume and degree certificate. I didn't hear back from them for three months, but then, in the third month, I received an email stating I was one of the few selected to proceed to the next stage. My mind kept thinking, scam! scam! scam! but at the same time, I thought it might not be.
The email indicated that I would receive another message informing me of the date and location of my interview. A few days later, I received an email with the details of when and how my interview would occur. Despite this, I remained skeptical about the job and was acting cautiously. I was anticipating a request for money, which would confirm my suspicion that it was a scam.
My interview occurred on a Thursday, it was done virtually by a Yoruba man. He was a gentleman and quite interested in learning about Nigeria since he hadn't visited in over 30 years. I shared as much information as I could, and then the interview continued. Before I realized it, the interview concluded, and they mentioned they would contact me later.
I phoned my mum and informed her that I was finished. She inquired about how it went, and I simply shrugged. It felt just like all my previous interviews. She said she was praying for me and advised me to keep trusting God, and I did.
The following day at work, I was in my classroom preparing for my upcoming class. I had been feeling anxious for hours, wondering when I would receive a response from them, or if I would hear back at all, and what their reply might be.
My upcoming class was at 11:00 am, and at 10:45 am, I felt the need to check my email. So, I did. Lo and behold, I had received a response from them. It said:

I was in shock. I could hear the voices of students all around me, but it felt like time had stopped. I kept staring at the message, praying I hadn't misread it. I must have read it a billion times. Then I got up, walked as fast as I could, and searched for my mum. She was in her office, doing administrative tasks. I walked straight to her desk and handed her my phone. She asked, "What is it?" I replied, "Read it." She read it, and her eyes widened like saucers. She whispered, "It's a lie." I just kept smiling. She continued looking at me and said, "You got the job." I nodded. My heart was racing; it felt like a dream. God had done it. After everything I had been through, He had finally done it.
And once more, he had only just started.
Keep an eye out for my upcoming post.
